Did You Know?

Did you know?
That some after makeup face sealer can also be used as a primer?! Welp, it’s true. One of my favorites to use for this is Ben Nye Final Seal. With its misty fragrance and light feel it’s an ideal choice for priming as well as sealing!!

It’s made for stage makeup so it’s heavy duty in its effort to keep you waterproof and sweat proof. This is awesome for every day but especially important for big events like weddings, gala’s, prom’s etc.

The frosting on this cake is that this products isn’t going to break the bank either. With sizes ranging from 2 fl oz to 16 fl oz and pricing ranging from $2- $25.50 it is definitely something worth packing in your makeup bag/kit.

Dr. Jart + Pore Minimalist Mask- Look airbrushed by taking care of your skin!

20140925_193406693_iOSSo recently I received in my Birchbox an interesting mask. It clearly stated on the front that it was a black charcoal sheet mask, so you would think I was prepared for what I was about to try out. Before opening I read the package and it proudly boasted that it was good for my type of skin. Pimples, check, Large Pores, Check, Excess Sebum, check. To be honest I don’t think I have excessive sebum but I’m willing to bet that I have it since I’m already 2 out of 3.

So I pull my hair back thinking this charcoal stuff will surely get all over the place, in my hair, probably on my clothes and I don’t know if oxyclean gets out charcoal stains so I’d better be careful on this one. I was home alone and decided it couldn’t be a more perfect time to sit on the couch with a treatment on my face to rejuvenate my skin and get it ready for my day.

I curiously ripped open the top of the package and peeked inside. What in the world?? As I reached in and pulled out the mask I see that they meant exactly what they said, it’s a sheet mask. I mean this thing was like a black slippery piece of smooth material that I can only compare to felt with holes cut into it. Ok, well, I guess this will be less messy than I thought. I unfolded the mask (so weird) and found the flap for the nose (it’s tricky cuz it blends right into the right into the rest of the mask. 20140925_200847154_iOS Ok now to position this thing on my face. Slippery sucker. Ok I’ve got it. There, that wasn’t so bad. Smoothing it down on my face was a small challenge as it seemed as though it was a little too big for my face and so it bubbled up around the edges but whatever, I’m not worried about my edges, I need my really oily zones tackled.

Aaaaaand now I wait. 20 minutes on the timer and I sit on my couch ready to let this magic mask minimize my pores, soak up some oil and make me look refreshed and airbrushed. Ok so honestly I KNOW that one use of any product isn’t going to change my skin so drastically but I’m visualizing my better skin, visualizing what COULD be, so just bare with me.

Tick tock and finally the timer goes off. As always I wonder if I should leave it on even longer to get an extra benefit but I decide to go ahead and follow the directions instead and peel it off.

20140925_194556404_iOS

There was a slippery substance on my skin but it mostly just felt wet. I rinsed my face and patted dry. I have to admit it did feel cleaner than before and a little more moisturized without feeling lotioned up or greasy. I will admit that my skin didn’t LOOK drastically different but I can see how using something like this often along with a really good skin cleansing routine would work wonders.

All in all I’m glad I tried it. It was way less messy than other masks I’ve used, it didn’t smell bad if at all, it was easy clean up and left my skin feeling alive. I almost prefer this kind of mask to other goopy kinds because it actually saves time.

Remember to always clean your skin with a cleanser appropriate for your skin type, use a toner (like witch hazel) right after and always always always moisturize your skin with a moisturizer appropriate for your skin type. These are minimum steps that you should be doing EVERY DAY. And I you’re like me, you will go that extra step and invest in a good eye cream and lip balm to protect that delicate skin around your eyes and on your pout.

Stop back soon for my “fav 5 for fall”!!

Fall Inspiration…Bring it on OCTOBER!!

As much as we love summer, inevitably, since we’re only allowed our rationed 2 weeks of it, we all have to adjust to fall. At first we’re resistant and even in denial from time to time but as Halloween approaches we’re faced with the harsh reality that the flip flops must go and out come the boots.

Boots you say??? That doesn’t sound so bad to me. Tall, short, over the knee, or ankle booties all of them so versatile and so fun!

Did someone say Sigma??

When you think makeup, chances are you think of what tool will give you the best finish. Some people use their hands, others use sponges and then there are those few that still use Q-tips and cotton balls. Don’t laugh! Believe it or not, I can beat a face into full on glam thanks to my training with Q-tips and cotton balls. Lol… Back in the day when I worked at Clinique used those key items as tools in an effort to keep things sterile.

Now-a-days we’ve all grown a little wiser and know that the right brush does make all the difference in the world. Though your choice of brush depends on the look you’re going for, there is no denying that as artists we need a variety of brushes to be sure we’re equipped for anything that may come up.

Leave it to Sigma to be on the forefront of he brush charge bringing us new innovations for our tool belt.

Sea Rx- Product Review

One of the goodies in my Birchbox is this amazing little anti wrinkle cream by Sea Rx.

It’s antioxidants and vitamins help to fade wrinkles leaving your complexion smooth and healthy looking. What’s interesting is that his face cream also works on crows feet!! So no more buying a separate cream for those.

It’s smooth thick texture glides on smoothly and absorbs quickly. Your face has no greasy feel. Just feels healthy and supple.

Not only do you save money, but your nourishing your whole face leaving it needing less makeup! Notice I didn’t say “no makeup”, lol.

The full sized version needs to find its way to my dresser right away!IMG_0709.JPG
